Thanks to a new partnership with color solutions provider X-Rite (Grand Rapids, MI), BASF (Ludwigshafen, Germany) now holds in-house coloring capabilities for tablets.
BASF’s Kollicoat IR Coating Systems are now matched with X-Rite’s ColorEye XTH, a portable tool that gives BASF customers the freedom to choose colors without having to outsource the service.
“Within minutes the color of a tablet can be determined by ColorEye XTH and translated into a Kollicoat IR Coating Systems recipe that can be formulated easily on-site,” said the company in a recent news release. “This approach replaces complex logistic processes and ensures that in-house formulation knowledge remains confidential.”
ColorEye XTH is a precise method for determining color based on the way the human eye responds to different surface effects of tablets.
This service is destined for the pharmaceutical market and there is no word yet on whether or not the service can be applied to dietary supplements.
