Chitin-glucan fiber ingredient Artinia, targeting cardiovascular support, has been self-affirmed Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS). Artinia’s creator, Stratum Nutrition (St. Louis, MO), says the GRAS designation will allow Artinia to expand further into food and beverage products, including energy and sports drinks, fruit juices, yogurt products, cereals, pastas, and baked goods, among others.
Artinia offers the benefits of both soluble and insoluble fibers. The company says that a 12-week animal study and a 30-day human pilot study have demonstrated that Artinia provides benefits for arterial and overall heart health, including a reduction in oxidized LDL cholesterol.
