Beta-glucan immune-health ingredient Wellmune WGP, by Biothera (Eagan, MN), has won a 2011 SupplySide West Scientific Excellence Award. The award will be presented at the SupplySide West trade show in Las Vegas, on October 12.
According to Biothera, Wellmune has been the subject of 30 peer-reviewed articles over the past decade, including six publications or scientific conference presentations of original clinical research in 2010-2011 alone. Virgo Publishing, which owns SupplySide West, stated to the press: “All of these well-designed human clinical trials consistently demonstrated significant health benefits, including improved physical health, reduced upper respiratory tract infection symptoms, and improved well-being.”
“This award is further recognition of Biothera’s strong commitment to an ongoing clinical research program that supports the use of Wellmune WGP as a unique food, beverage, and supplement ingredient,” stated Rich Mueller, Biothera’s CEO, in a press statement.
Wellmune WGP has also been the recipient of an Innovation Award from the Institute of Food Technologists, as well as a Frost & Sullivan Excellence in Research Award.
