In a recent press release, Unibar Corporation announced that their eye health ingredient, CapsiClear, has received a new European patent. The new ingredient is produced from Capsicum annum extract and is a carotenoid standardized to 50% capsanthin and may be able to bring ocular pressure into a normal range, support tear production as well as eye hydration, which may help individuals suffering from dry eye. CapsiClear received its patent on July 2, 2025.
The new patent is intended “for use in the reduction of intraocular pressure associated with normal tension glaucoma, primary open angle glaucoma, angle closure glaucoma, and/or combinations thereof.” Additionally, it will be provided for the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Switzerland, Poland, Ireland, Greece, Germany, Spain, and Hungary. With CapsiClear receiving the European patent, Unibar Corporation will be able to launch the ingredient into international markets.
