Thorne Research Inc. (Sandpoint, ID), which markets nutritional supplements to licensed healthcare practitioners, and ingredient supplier Indena S.p.A. (Milan) have forged a research and development partnership. Indena will develop clinically validated botanical ingredients for dietary supplements, which will then be manufactured and marketed to healthcare practitioners exclusively by Thorne.
According to the companies, products developed through the collaboration will focus on condition-specific needs. “Indena shares our commitment to improving health, and we expect that this effort will lead to many important advances in supplements based on botanicals and other nutritional products in diverse areas of health, including cancer support, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and nervous system disorders in the years ahead,” stated Paul Jacobson, Thorne’s CEO, to the press.
Indena’s parent company Idb Holding will become a minority shareholder in the investment arm of Thorne Research, Thorne Holding. Additionally, Indena will begin to contribute to www.healthelements.com, an online informational resource for integrative medicine, of which Thorne Research is a partner.
