TCBY says that expanding dairy-free options is an ongoing mission.
The fruitful partnership between frozen yogurt chain TCBY and the Silk dairy-free milk brand continues. TCBY announced it will launch coconut milk frozen yogurt on April 24, furthering the chain’s efforts to expand its non-dairy, plant-based yogurt options for customers.
In addition to being a dairy-free, plant-based alternative, the new, co-branded Silk Coconutmilk Frozen Yogurt is marketed as an exotic treat. TCBY says: “The new Silk Coconutmilk Fro-Yo is not only a tasty experience for those on some restricted diets, but also an exotic treat for everyone! The nutty-sweet flavor and creamy texture evokes images of swaying palms and beaches, regardless of the day’s weather conditions. Consider it a vacation for your taste buds.”
In January, TCBY also partnered with Silk to launch the yogurt chain’s first almond milk frozen yogurt, Silk Vanilla Almond Fro-Yo. (Prior to that, the brand launched a chocolate almond milk yogurt.) Silk is best known for its soy milk offerings.
Kelly Miano, TCBY’s director of marketing, Famous Brands International, says that expanding dairy-free options is an ongoing mission. “We are listening,” she said via press release. “Consumers are becoming more savvy about their own dietary needs, more interested in ingredient knowledge, and more discerning on taste.”
In 2013, PETA awarded TCBY its Libby Award for best vegan dessert for the brand’s first plant-based yogurt launch, the aforementioned Silk Chocolate Almond.
TCBY says that the coconut milk frozen yogurt ranked high in consumer testing, and that response to the chocolate almond milk frozen yogurt was “through the roof.”
