
Tate & Lyle Offers New Reduced-Calorie Drink Formulation
Tate & Lyle will work directly with food and beverage manufacturers to help them reduce calories in their formulas.
Calories can be cut using Tate & Lyle’s portfolio of ingredients, including sweeteners such as Splenda sucralose and Krystar crystalline fructose, as well as texturants and acidulants.
Reformulations may also benefit companies cost-wise, the company says: “With rising commodity prices affecting manufacturing costs, the new formulation service offers companies a consistent way to manage sweetener costs and reduce margin pressure in existing products, line extensions, and new product launches.”
To demonstrate the capabilities of Beverage Optimize, the company launched a variety of new prototypes showcasing great-tasting sugar-reduced drinks, including juices, carbonated soft drinks, still drinks, and beverage mixes.
“Beverage Optimize offers our customers a way to work directly with our formulations experts to develop a great-tasting beverage with the additional benefits of a strong opportunity nutrition label improvements for those who desire them,” said Pashen Black, Tate & Lyle’s Americas marketing manager, in a press release.
