Gelita will showcase Gelita RXL gelatine for improved shelf-life and stability of hard and soft capsules.
Gelita will showcase Gelita RXL gelatine for improved shelf-life and stability of hard and soft capsules. The company says that gelatine is the industry’s gold standard for capsule production due to its high bioavailablity, ability to protect active ingredients, neutral taste and color, and high consumer acceptance and compliance. However, in extreme storage conditions with high temperatures and/or high humidity, the gelatine in capsules can cross-link to form a film of insoluble gelatine that can impede release of the active ingredients inside the capsule.
The company offers Gelita RXL as a solution for reducing this cross-linking effect. It says that Gelita RXL gelatine adds value to capsules by increasing dissolution properties, improving shelf-life (especially at high temperatures and humidity), and also by allowing manufacturers to explore new fills that were previously thought not possible to encapsulate. It says that Gelita RXL is the first and only pure gelatine solution in the marketplace and that this unique solution for reduced cross-linking gelatine is protected by U.S. Patent 07485323 and other international patents granted and pending.
