Solabia acquires Mibelle Biochemistry from Persán, expanding its science-backed active ingredient lineup for supplement and cosmetic manufacturers.

On July 1, 2026, Solabia Group announced it had finalized its acquisition of Mibelle Biochemistry, a Swiss manufacturer of active ingredients for the cosmetics and nutraceutical markets, from Persán.1 The closing follows an agreement first disclosed in February 2026 and confirms terms that had not changed materially in the intervening months.

Who Is Mibelle Biochemistry?

Founded in Switzerland in 1991, Mibelle Biochemistry is known for its work in plant stem cell technology and modern biotechnology, with a portfolio that includes skin beauty, healthy aging, hair care and cognitive support, and its actives are distributed in more than 50 countries. The company had been part of the Mibelle Group, which Persán, a European market leader in home care and personal care, acquired in May 2025.2

Why Did Persán Sell the Division?

The sale was framed as a strategic realignment on Persán's part, allowing Persán to keep a focus on specific business areas while also ensuring that Mibelle Biochemistry continues to grow.3 In February, Persán CEO Antonio Somé commented on the sale, describing Solabia as a fitting owner given its expertise in the ingredient sector. “We are very pleased to have found in Solabia an excellent new owner for Mibelle Biochemistry whose expertise and long-term vision will support Mibelle Biochemistry’s growth in the future. For Persán, this step also enables us to concentrate on our core business areas where we can generate the greatest impact and long-term value, further growing our business globally.”

What Has Mibelle Biochemistry Said About the Transition?

Cornelia Schürch, Head of Mibelle Biochemistry, commented on the deal at both the signing and closing stages. At the closing, she highlighted continuing opportunities for the company to grow and innovate. “Joining Solabia gives Mibelle Biochemistry the opportunity to build on its strong scientific heritage while opening new perspectives for international development,” she stated. “We are excited to combine our expertise with Solabia’s capabilities and to continue delivering innovative, high-quality ingredients to our customers worldwide.”

She had also commented on the original announcement of the sale in February. “Over more than three decades, Mibelle Biochemistry has built a global reputation for cutting edge biotechnology and high-quality natural active ingredients,” she explainsed. “Joining Solabia marks an exciting next chapter for our team. We are gaining a strong, highly aligned partner who understands our markets and shares our passion for scientific excellence. This transaction will allow us to innovate faster, scale our technologies, and bring even more impactful ingredients to customers around the world.”

Neither the February nor the July press releases disclosed financial terms of the transaction.

What Does This Mean for Solabia’s Position in the Market?

The deal adds a specialized biotechnology and plant-based ingredient portfolio to Solabia's existing operations. Solabia describes itself as a vertically integrated manufacturer of natural ingredients for the cosmetics, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and microbiology industries, and at the time of closing reported sixteen production facilities and multiple R&D centers, with a presence across North and South America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. At the time the agreement was signed in February, Solabia's footprint was described as eleven manufacturing sites, eight R&D labs, and more than 900 employees.

Solabia CEO Jean-Baptiste Dellon said the acquisition strengthens the company's ability to offer a combined range of ingredients to customers, and that the two organizations share a similar approach to scientific research and product development.

“We are very excited to welcome Mibelle Biochemistry’s expert teams to Solabia,” Dellon stated at the acquisition. “Mibelle Biochemistry is a company we have long admired for its scientific rigor, innovative spirit, and pioneering work. Together, we will accelerate innovation, expand our global reach, and deliver even stronger value to a larger customer base seeking differentiated, science‑backed solutions for beauty and wellbeing.”
