Probiotic, prebiotic digestive health combos debuting from FrieslandCampina, Lallemand at Vitafoods 2021, SupplySide West 2021
Prebiotic supplier FrieslandCampina Ingredients and probiotic yeast and bacteria ingredient supplier Lallemand Health Solutions worked together to create Pro-Digest Health Shot and Pro-Digest Bowel Support shots.
Two new gut health product concepts for digestion will be unveiled at next week’s Vitafoods 2021 trade show thanks to a partnership between two leading suppliers. Prebiotic supplier FrieslandCampina Ingredients (Amersfoort, The Netherlands) and probiotic yeast and bacteria ingredient supplier Lallemand Health Solutions (Mirabel, Canada) worked together to create the two new shot drink–style products marrying prebiotics and probiotics: Pro-Digest Health Shot and Pro-Digest Bowel Support.
Pro-Digest Health Shot is a combination of 5 g of FrieslandCampina’s trademarked Biotis GOS prebiotic, a galacto-oligosaccharide ingredient shown to increase levels of Bifidobacteria in healthy adults and to improve gut discomfort, constipation, and other gastrointestinal symptoms; and 5 billion colony-forming units (CFU) of Lallemand’s proprietary Lafti B94 Bifidobacterium lactis probiotic strain. Together, the prebiotics and probiotics support healthy microflora, reinforcing gut barrier integrity and reliving discomfort such as occasional constipation.
Pro-Digest Bowel Support contains 5 g of Biotis GOS prebiotic along with 10 billion CFU of Lallemand’s probiotic strain Lactobacillus paracasei HA-196, to support adults with occasional diarrhea or constipation associated with symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.
The companies said their decision to collaborate was based on the desire to combine clinically proven ingredients for the gut health market. Both new product concepts will be on display in any upcoming joint webcast hosted by the companies, as well as at the upcoming Vitafoods 2021 and SupplySide West 2021 trade shows in October.
