OmniActive Health Technologies’ (Morristown, NJ) Hosur, India, extracts manufacturing plant has earned Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) registration from NSF International (Ann Arbor, MI). The company’s Hosur specialty botanicals and extracts division manufactures natural extracts including green coffee, valerian, turmeric, green tea, boswellia, fenugreek, and guarana, among other ingredients.

NSF International developed its GMPs in accordance with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) 21 CFR part 111 regulations for the manufacturing, packaging, and distribution of dietary supplements. According to OmniActive, these GMP guidelines help companies in the natural products industry develop and maintain proper controls in their manufacturing processes to meet quality standards.

Chaitanya Desai, COO, OmniActive Health Technologies, explained how NSF made the GMP determination for OmniActive’s Hosur facility in a press statement: “NSF conducted an extremely comprehensive audit that included inspection of our manufacturing facility, process control, raw material specification and control, facility and equipment maintenance, and much more,” he said. “We did this voluntary certification to demonstrate to our customers and industry that we hold ourselves to the most stringent standards of safety and quality to deliver an even deeper level of quality assurance.”

Added Cheryl Luther, general manager of dietary supplements, sports nutrition and beverage quality, NSF International: “Earning GMP registration demonstrates a real commitment to quality in dietary supplement manufacturing. OmniActive’s Hosur facility has the proper methods, equipment, facilities, and controls in place for compliance with dietary supplement GMPs.”
