NOW Foods Pushes Up Nevada Facility Completion Date

Once finished, the facility will represent the company’s largest single facility investment ($20 million).

Healthy food and supplements manufacturer NOW Foods has announced an accelerated completion date for the second phase of its new 130,000-sq-ft West Coast distribution and manufacturing facility in Sparks, NV. The original completion date of 2014 has now been moved forward to the third quarter of 2012.

Once finished, the facility will represent the company’s largest single facility investment ($20 million). The company says that the Sparks, NV, location will prevent the need for off-shore product manufacturing, and that the company will have the ability to manufacture and ship its products regionally, versus shipping products from its Midwest U.S. operation, and thus creating a more efficient and sustainable business model. The new facility will consist of 70,000 sq ft for warehousing and distribution; 50,000 sq ft for manufacturing; 6,000 sq ft for office space; and 4,000 sq ft of cooler/freezer space.

The company anticipates hiring new employees for the site, including manufacturing, management, and chemists positions, as early as March. It says it expects to hire 100 employees within 18 months.

Phase two of construction will include installation of equipment and related building improvements. Phase one, which includes the building of the warehouse and distribution facility, will be complete this March.

NOW Health Group’s CEO Al Powers attributed the accelerated completion to the success the company has seen in the last year. Also, he added via press release, “Because of the business-friendly environment Nevada offers, it made sense to move here so quickly here. This is a great opportunity to accommodate our high growth rate and better serve our customers, and work with the northern Nevada community to generate positive economic movement.”

Those interested in job positions can visit the company's website beginning in March.
