According to Novel, QU995 is the only food-grade quercetin on the market and the only quercetin ingredient to have FDA GRAS notification.
Novel Ingredient Services (Novel; West Caldwell, NJ) is now the exclusive North American distributor of QU995, a patented quercetin anhydrous ingredient from Quercegen Pharmaceuticals (Marlboro, MA).
According to Novel, QU995 is the only food-grade quercetin on the market and the only quercetin ingredient to have FDA GRAS notification. “It contains only 1%–4% moisture [according to loss-on-drying testing] and at least 13% more quercetin per gram than the quercetin dehydrate commonly sold in the dietary supplements industry…” Novel says. As a result, manufacturers need a smaller amount of QU995, resulting in substantially less bulk per capsule or tablet, the company adds.
Novel says human clinical and epidemiological studies suggest quercetin is a potent antioxidant supporting energy metabolism, joint health, sports performance and recovery, immune function, heart health, and mitochondrial biogenesis.
