Landkind Pure Salidroside earns Informed Ingredient Certification

Landkind Pure Salidroside receives Informed Ingredient Certification and is now internationally recognized for testing products against the WADA Prohibited List.

Gnosis by Lesaffre discussed in a recent press release that their Landkind Pure Salidroside product has received an Informed Ingredient Certification through LGC. With this accreditation, it verifies that Landkind Pure Salidroside was tested for more than 285 substances that have been banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

“The publication of our important clinical study in the peer-reviewed Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition1 has been central to securing both Informed Certification and a range of structure-function claims dedicated specifically to the branded Landkind Pure Salidroside,” stated Hélène Charier, Gnosis regulatory and IP director. “This is also the first study to demonstrate that supplementing with salidroside—an active compound in the adaptogen Rhodiola rosea—exerts positive impacts on exercise performance.”

The study’s results helped signify the ingredients place in the sports/active nutrition market. Researchers looked at 50 participants, 30 were male and 20 were female, over the course of 16 days. Participants were randomly given a placebo or 60 mg of salidroside each day of the clinical study. Researchers measured the data gathered through blood samples, looking biomarkers such as erythropoietin, myoglobin, creatine kinase-MM, and C-reactive protein, as well as mood state evaluations utilizing the Profile of Mood States (POMS), peak oxygen update, local muscular endurance assessments, and intermittent time-to-exhaustion (TTE).1 Researchers observed that the group that received salidroside experienced a predicted uptake of oxygen during high-intensity intermittent exercise, elevated serum myoglobin which showed a reduction in exercise-induced muscle damage, stable mood states, and “maintained performance levels during the time-to-exhaustion test.”1

Through these results, Landkind Pure Salidroside is now able to create structure function claims in relation to the branded ingredient. The four benefits claimed in the press release are:

  • Oxygen Uptake
  • Exercise Performance
  • Muscle Support
  • Mood and Stress Response

“These structure-function claims are tied directly to the branded ingredient itself, enabling clear, science-backed communication about the ingredient’s function on labeling to brands, formulators, and consumers alike,” Charier commented in the press release. “The scientific validation creates exciting new possibilities for innovative product applications that can target specific athletic needs with precision and credibility.”

To receive an Informed Ingredient Certification, Landkind Pure Salidroside has each batch of the product third-party tested in ISO 17025-accreddited labs. The press release mentioned that WADA does not certify ingredients but “Informed Ingredient is internationally recognized for testing products against the WADA Prohibited List, ensuring a product's integrity and suitability for drug-tested athletes.”
