Colorcon Launches Nutracore LFP Lubricant for Capsule and Tablet Production
The organic excipient is positioned to combine lubrication, flow, and compression support in a single addition.
Colorcon announced on October 20, 2026, the launch of Nutracore LFP, positioned as an organic, label-friendly lubricant for nutraceutical capsule and tablet manufacturing, highlighted at SupplySide Global.1 The company said the name stands for Lubricate, Flow, and Press.
What Is Nutracore LFP Designed to Do?
According to Colorcon, the ingredient combines lubrication, flow, and compression performance in one formulation. The company said it can be added directly during manufacturing, which it stated removes the need for sifting, pre-blending, or rework. Colorcon described the product as designed specifically for nutraceutical applications.
How Might It Affect Capsule Filling and Tableting?
For capsule filling, Colorcon said Nutracore LFP supports improved powder flow, consistent fill weight, and content uniformity. In tableting, the company said it promotes smooth compression and easy ejection, and produces strong tablets that disintegrate quickly.
Colorcon also said better powder flow can help reduce production problems such as rat-holing, hopper scraping, and automatic shutdowns. The company reported that tablets made with the ingredient show high tensile strength across varying compression forces, and that performance is reliable across a range of nutraceutical formulations. The announcement did not include test data, use levels, or study conditions expanding on these statements.
Why Did Colorcon Develop It?
Russell Prestipino, global business manager at Colorcon, tied the product to production efficiency. “Nutracore LFP was developed as the solution to a common problem customers are facing…how can we simplify manufacturing and reduce time to market in a competitive industry. We created this product to streamline manufacturing, while ensuring reliable performance and simplifying production. By bringing lubrication, flow, and compression properties together in one, easy-to-use solution, we are helping customers address real manufacturing challenges in capsule and tablet applications.”
What Do the Brochure and Product Page Add?
A 2026 product brochure from the company says the ingredient adds directly to the blender.2 The brochure also includes a comparative claim, stating that tablets made with Nutracore LFP “disintegrate more quickly when compared to the most popular clean label lubricant on the market today.” The brochure does not name the comparator or provide supporting data. It also displays USDA Organic, Quality Assurance International Certified Organic, and Non-GMO Project Verified seals, but does not describe the scope of each certification or provide certificate details.
The product page notes that samples can be requested through the My Colorcon portal.3
How Does This Fit Into the Nutracore Line?
Nutracore LFP is part of Colorcon’s Nutracore portfolio, which the company said is meant to help nutraceutical manufacturers meet consumer expectations for recognizable ingredients while supporting efficient, consistent production. The line dates to April 18, 2023, when Colorcon introduced Nutracore as a range of label-friendly core excipients for tablets and capsules aimed at nutraceutical and dietary supplement manufacturers.4
In that release, the company said demand for label-friendly ingredients was growing as the nutritional products market expanded and consumers sought more information about what is in products. It also said manufacturers often find natural, sustainable ingredients difficult to work with.
Kurt Fegely, vice president of excipient technologies at Colorcon, said at the time that “Nutracore, Label Friendly Excipients are made from natural materials and designed for manufacturability—meaning producers will be able to meet label friendly consumer needs for nutritional and dietary supplements without compromising on performance.”
