WASHINGTON, D.C., August 3, 2011-The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) today announced that political pundit and former White House Senior Advisor Karl Rove will be a featured speaker at The Conference, CRN’s annual symposium for the dietary supplement industry. The Conference takes place October 19-22 at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.
Speaking on the final day of The Conference, Mr. Rove will provide his thoughts on the current political climate and share his unique insight into the inner workings of Congress, the White House and the political process in Washington D.C. and how these factors affect the business community. He will also share some personal recollections from his nearly eight years as a close advisor to President George W. Bush and from his extensive career in American politics.
“Karl Rove is one of the premiere political strategists of the last half-century. He has had a front-row seat to many important moments in American history and was actively involved in several of the most hotly contested political campaigns of the last 30 years,” said John Venardos, chair, The Conference and senior vice president, Worldwide Regulatory, Government and Industry Affairs, Herbalife, Ltd. “His time spent in the White House as Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to President Bush makes him a living witness to history and his speech will surely be one of the highlights of The Conference.”
Mr. Rove served as Senior Advisor to President George W. Bush from 2000-2007 and Deputy Chief of Staff from 2004-2007. At the White House he oversaw the Offices of Strategic Initiatives, Political Affairs, Public Liaison, and Intergovernmental Affairs and was Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, coordinating the White House policy-making process. Prior to serving in the White House, Mr. Rove was a leading Republican political strategist, helping the campaigns of over 75 U.S. Senate, Congressional and gubernatorial candidates in 24 states. In 2000, Mr. Rove served as “The Architect” of Mr. Bush’s successful campaign for the presidency and was personally acknowledged by the President in his 2004 re-election acceptance speech.
Currently, Mr. Rove serves as a Fox News Contributor, a Wall Street Journal columnist and recently released the New York Times bestseller “Courage and Consequence: My Life as a Conservative in the Fight.” He has also written for other publications including The Daily Beast, Financial Times, Forbes, FoxNews.com, HumanEvents.com, Newsweek, The Times, Washington Post, and The Weekly Standard.
The Conference has gained a reputation for its substantive programming, relevant to CEOs, senior and middle management in the dietary supplement industry. In addition to Mr. Rove, The Conference agenda will feature industry leaders, economic and market research experts, scientists and political experts, with additional speakers to be announced over the next month.
Located approximately 20 miles south of the Los Angeles International Airport and approximately 20 miles north of Long Beach Airport, the Terranea Resort is an oceanfront property that offers stunning views and access to the pristine natural beauty of the southern California coastline. The Conference and The Workshop: CRN’s Annual Day of Science (which takes place immediately prior to The Conference) are open to CRN members and non-members. There are several registration options for The Conference and those interested are encouraged to visit http://www.crnusa.org/2011events/ for more information.
