The Natural Products Association (Washington, DC) has named Jim LaValle its 2011 Clinician of the Year.

LaValle, who trains physicians and other healthcare professionals on the application of natural therapies, was previously named one of American Druggist magazine’s 50 Most Influential Pharmacists.

“Ninety five percent of all physicians and nurses take nutritional supplements,” said LaValle, according to natural products consulting company Integrative Health Resources LLC (IHR; Cincinnati). “I want to see natural medicine take its rightful place in helping improve and maintain the health and well being of people everywhere.”

LaValle is the founder of both IHR and the LaValle Metabolic Institute, a Cincinnati-based medical facility.
