At the upcoming SupplySide West trade show, Grain Processing Corp. (GPC; Muscatine, IA), a supplier of maltodextrins, corn syrup solids, and starches for the food, nutraceutical, and personal care markets, will highlight solutions ranging from reducing sugar to improving delivery formats.
The company will showcase its new Maltrin SS dried glycose syrup, with reduced sugars compared to corn and tapioca syrup solids. “This new ingredient from GPC builds solids for enhanced mouthfeel and contributes minimal sweetness with a neutral flavor,” the firm says. At SupplySide West, the company will sample Maltrin SS in a dry mix, plant-protein meal-replacement drink.
GPC will also discuss how its Maltrin tapioca syrup solids can help improve binding and softness in bars, and how its Inscosity instant modified starch helps control moisture migration and improves moisture retention in high-protein bars.
Finally, the company will demonstrate how its ingredients can improve delivery vehicles. Its Maltrin tapioca maltodextrin can help provide a smooth mouthfeel and a neutral flavor in high-solids systems such as gels and chews. The company’s Maltrin FM fast-melt maltodextrin, meanwhile, is geared to quick-melt delivery formats that can be taken by mouth without the need for drinking water. “The fast-melting action and neutral flavor make it an excellent carrier of other ingredients and provide an efficient oral delivery vehicle for people who have difficulty swallowing tablets and capsules,” the company says.
