November 12, 2012

The 120-page guide covers manufacturing, quality control, packaging, distribution, and storage for botanical supplements and botanical preparations.

The European Botanical Forum (EBF) has published a guide to help manufacturers of botanical food supplements ensure product quality. EBF is selling the guide for €23.

The 120-page guide covers manufacturing, quality control, packaging, distribution, and storage for botanical supplements and botanical preparations. It features sections on quality management, equipment, personnel training, hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP), safety, product development, manufacture, warehousing, transport, documentation, and more, including mandatory EU requirements.

The guide was compiled with technical assistance of experts from EBF member companies and associations. “It is intended to provide guidelines for the promotion of best practice in the production of botanical food supplements sold in the EU,” says EBF chair Sindy Staessen.
