Food enzymes are a significant part of the deal.
DSM (Heerlen, the Netherlands) has acquired assets, licenses, and other agreements from Verenium (San Diego, CA) for the food enzymes and oilseed processing industries. The full agreement is priced at around $37 million and will support DSM’s “nutrition cluster” and enzymes portfolio.
As part of the agreement, DSM obtains exclusive licenses to Verenium’s alpha-amylase and xylanase enzymes for use in foods and beverages. DSM also receives Verenium’s oilseed processing enzymes, related intellectual property, and partnership agreements with Verenium’s oilseed processing customers: Bunge, Alfa Laval, and Desmet Bellestra.
