The patented ingredient offers multiple formulation options, from capsules and powders to functional foods and pet nutrition.

In a September 2, 2025, press release, nutraceutical manufacturer and distributor Cyvex Nutrition announced it had partnered with Vietal Nutrition to introduce LLP-1, an ingredient to support weight management. Developed with a proprietary mix of esterified fatty acids and highly viscous polysaccharides, LLP-1 has been clinically studied and is protected by US patents. The ingredient is also formulated without caffeine or stimulants.

“Our partnership with Vietal Nutrition to bring LLP-1 to market opens up great opportunities for both companies,” stated Matthew Phillips, president of Cyvex Nutrition, in the press release. “LLP-1 fills a real gap in the market for a stimulant-free weight management support ingredient backed by strong research. By combining our strengths, we’re giving formulators a solution that’s both in demand and ready to scale.”

The ingredient can be added to capsules, powders, ready-to-drink sachets, coffee stick packs, water enhancers, bars, and functional food systems. Additionally, the press release notes it can be added to food for companion animals for pet weight management.

The effects of the ingredient were tested in a double-blind, placebo-controlled study1, “Influences of a dietary supplement in combination with an exercise and diet regimen on adipocytokines and adiposity in women who are overweight,” published in the European Journal of Applied Physiology. In this eight-week clinical study, 22 female overweight participants were given the supplement LLP-1 (LLP-1 was used in this study while named Trisynex). The parameters of the study also involved cardiovascular exercise and caloric restricted diet alongside the supplement or placebo.

Body composition and serum insulin, leptin, and adiponectin were measured. The supplementation showed decreases in body weight, leptin, and insulin, and was associated with favorable effects with adipocytokines and regional body composition.

Highlighted results of the study include:

  • Body weight: the supplement group decreased from 87.1 kg ± 6.2 to 77.9 ± 5.1 kg versus the placebo group from 86.9 ± 4.7 to 82.7 ± 3.8 kg
  • Body fat percentage: the supplement group dropped from 43.4 ± 4.1 to 36.1 ± 3.6 compared with the placebo group from 44.3 ± 2.0 to 40.6 ± 1.2
  • Leptin: levels in the supplement group dropped from 28.3 ± 3.5 to 16.2 ± 2.6 ng ml−1 compared with the placebo group from 29.4 ± 3.2 to 19.9 ± 1.1 ng ml−1
  • Insulin: the supplementation reduced levels from 7.3 ± 0.8 to 5.1 ± 0.2 mU l−1, while the placebo group dropped from 7.7 ± 0.9 to 5.1 ± 0.3 mU l−1

An increase in adiponectin was observed, which is a hormone related to fat metabolism and utilization of glucose, the press release explained.

“LLP-1 is one of the most exciting weight management support ingredients I’ve seen in years,” stated Lorna Vanderhaeghe, CEO of Vietal Nutrition and founder of Smart Solutions. “Clinical data suggest that LLP-1 may support appetite control and metabolic wellness in a way that is stimulant-free and well tolerated. By addressing key factors such as appetite control and metabolic wellness, LLP-1 offers formulators a unique ingredient to help meet the growing demand for effective, science-backed weight management support solutions.”

Cyvex is a member of the Bioriginal Group of Companies. The company has recently announced other company partnerships as well. Last month, Cyvex and Eevia Health Plc introduced the excipient-free elderberry extract Feno-Sambucus 30 to the North American market2. Elderberry is known for its potential support of immune health, its press release noted, and the extract contains 30% anthocyanins, more than 50% total polyphenols, and high levels of proanthocyanidins. Eevia Health created the extract through its proprietary extraction and purification method.
