CRN Partners with Food Marketing Institute on Pharmacist Educational Tool

CRN's "Roadmap for Retailers" is adding an emphasis on pharmacy practices.

The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN; Washington, DC) and the Food Marketing Institute (FMI; Arlington, VA) are emphasizing retailer education for pharmacists with a new insert page added to CRN’s “Roadmap for Retailers” educational tool.

The intent of the Roadmap is to remind pharmacists of their legal obligations when selling dietary supplements in a retail setting, including what kinds of claims are acceptable on their retail products. According to a “Life…supplemented” poll recently conducted by CRN, 93% of pharmacists recommend dietary supplements to their patients.

FMI recently endorsed the Roadmap and will help raise awareness of the project. FMI and CRN plan to host a webinar on the project through the Pharmacist Society later this year.
