The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN; Washington, DC) has announced Jim Hamilton, president of DSM Nutritional Products USA Inc. (Parsippany, NJ), as the new chair of the association’s board of directors. Hamilton succeeds former chairman Mark LeDoux, CEO of Natural Alternatives International Inc., and will hold his two-year post through 2012.
“Our industry will continue to face challenges over the next two years, and CRN is ready to face those challenges head-on,” says Hamilton. “With a new Congress and increased scrutiny from the regulatory agencies, it is imperative that we continue to work with our champions on Capitol Hill and educate new staffers not familiar with the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) and that we urge for stronger enforcement of the laws in place and step-up of our own self-regulatory efforts. I look forward to working with my colleagues on CRN’s board to continue to fulfill CRN’s mission.”
CRN also welcomed new officers to the board’s executive committee, headed by association president and CEO Steve Mister: chair-elect John Blair of NSA LLC, treasurer Ron Fugate of Alacer Corp., secretary Kristen Blanchard of Nutramax Laboratories; and immediate past chair LeDoux.
