According to Cognis (Monheim, Germany), it has become one of the first suppliers of functional cosmetic ingredients to have its broad raw materials, including cosmetic oils, emulsifiers, and surfactants, certified natural by NaTrue.

Among other qualifications, NaTrue certification requires that:

  • Only water, natural ingredients, derived natural ingredients, and nature-identical ingredients are permitted

  • Manufacturing processes for natural cosmetics and their raw materials are strictly regulated

  • Strict minimum levels are required for natural ingredients and natural organic ingredients

  • Strict maximum levels are required for derived natural ingredients that apply to all three grades NaTrue certifications: Natural Cosmetics, Natural Cosmetics with Organic Ingredients and Organic Cosmetics.

“By using NaTrue labeled ingredients, [our customers] are able to save time and increase the chance of getting their products approved and certified,” said Cognis’s senior strategic marketing manager, Care Chemicals Europe, Ute Griesbach, in a press release.

“Our own Green Chemicals Solutions classification system, combined with the official certifications, puts manufacturers in the best possible position to meet the growing global green trend,” Griesbach added.
