The Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA) has released new public survey data which the group says supports its demand for a modernized Food and Drug Act.

According to the results of CHFA’s Ipsos Reid Omnibus survey, seven in ten Canadians support developing a new act for Canadian Natural Health Products (NHPs) while 80% of Canadians consider NHPs to be “somewhat or very important” to their families.

Under the current Food and Drug Act, NHPs are classified as a subset of drugs, which CHFA says creates a variety of problems for the industry.
