Beneo has partnered with Bulgarian confectionery company Alpi to introduce Deo, an innovative candy that provides flavor and-get this: fragrance.
The rose-scented Deo uses the ingredient geraniol, an acrylic monoterpene-alcohol also found in lavender and vanilla, which, when consumed, leaves the body through skin pores.
Deo also contains Beneo Isomalt, a low-calorie and tooth-friendly sugar replacer. Isomalt’s low dissolution properties prolong the flavor of rose and scent of rose on the skin, according to Beneo.
The idea of perfumed candy, which comes out of Benos’ Candy Innovation Matrix, is believed to have been pioneered in Japan, where geraniol’s fragrant potential was first understood.
Deneo is now available for purchase in Europe.
