Aker BioMarine (Oslo, Norway) has officially entered into an agreement to purchase krill fishing vessel Thorshovdi for NOK 138.9 million from Krillsea Group AS.
Once Thorshovdi is purchased, Aker says it will own and operate two krill trawlers and one freighter vessel in the Atlantic, part of expansion plans to meet what it says is increasing demand for Qrill and Superba krill oil. Moreover, it says, the additional vessel will help the company meet stricter requirements for redundant harvesting and production capacity.
