AHPA Adds Japanese Star Anise Fruit to List of Known Adulterants

AHPA says the decision to add star anise to the list followed a vote by its board of trustees to “help industry confirm the identity of Illicium verum as differentiated from Illicium anisatum.”

The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA; Silver Spring, MD) says it has added star anise (Illicium verum) fruit to the association’s Guidance on Known Adulterants, part of AHPA’s Botanical Authentication Program.
