The new HarvestPro line from Glanbia Nutritionals offers plant alternatives to soy protein.
Glanbia Nutritionals (Fitchburg, WI) is expanding its portfolio with the U.S. launch of HarvestPro, a line of vegan plant proteins that are available in both powder and crisp form. The new line of ingredients draws on several hot market trends, including ancient grains, gluten-free, and allergen-free, and are positioned as an “alternative to soy equivalents.”
The HarvestPro crisps contain 50%-60% levels of proteins, says Glanbia, and are currently available in three varieties: chia and amaranth; quinoa, chia, and sorghum; and quinoa and flax. The crisps are intended to be ideal for bars, clusters, and cereals.
In addition to contributing to the flavor, texture, and nutritional profile of finished products, formulating with HarvestPro crisps “enables on-pack labeling of ancient grains, tapping into the increasingly popular trend,” according to a press release.
Protein powders, the other HarvestPro offering, are available from either chia or flax protein. HarvestPro Chia 30 contains 30% vegetarian protein and 42% fiber, says Glanbia. The flax protein powder, HarvestPro Flax Protein 35, provides 35% vegetarian protein and 32% fiber. Well-suited for beverage, bar, and bakery applications, Glanbia says both protein powders are free of hormones, allergens, GMOs, and gluten.
“With new product introductions incorporating ancient grains on an upward trajectory, it is clear that consumers are seeking these ingredients and their inherent benefits in their diet,” says Linda Wilson, director, business development, Glanbia Nutritionals. “We’re excited to be leading the way in the development and diversification of plant protein sources with ancient grains, flax, and chia.”
