Zand (Park City, UT), an herb-based supplement brand, has launched a rapid immune health product called Immune Fast. The product incorporates the proprietary yeast fermentate EpiCor from Embria Health Sciences (Ankeny, IA) as its primary ingredient, combined with vitamin C, zinc, echinacea, and elderberry.
The product claims to support immune health within two hours of consumption, is based on a 2011 study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food1 that observed significant decreases in circulating T lymphocytes and natural killer (NK) cells at one hour and two hours following consumption of 500 mg of EpiCor. These decreases suggest that supplementation led to increased T lymphocyte and NK cell trafficking and homing into tissue. The product comes in chewable tablets for fast delivery.
