Parabel to launch pure protein hydrolysate made from water lentils
A new addition to the firm’s Lentein product line, the ingredient contains 65-70% hydrolyzed protein, a complete amino acid profile, is highly functional, and can even be used in meat analogues, a burgeoning market.
Parabel USA Inc. (Vero Beach, FL) is launching a neutral-colored pure protein hydrolysate made from water lentils, designed to be an allergen-free substitute for other plant proteins such as soy and pea. A new addition to the firm’s Lentein product line, the ingredient contains 65-70% hydrolyzed protein, a complete amino acid profile, is highly functional, and can even be used in meat analogues, a burgeoning market.
“The water lentil hydrolysate has a superb functionality especially compared to other minimally processed ingredients,” said Anthony Tiarks, CEO of Parabel, in a press release. “In conjunction with its complete amino acid profile and high digestibility, it will be an easy drop-in solution to everything plant-based, from burgers and sausages to sports nutrition and beverages.”
Lentein received a no-objection letter from FDA in 2018, is Non-GMO Project Verified, and sustainably produced through a hydroponic system. The pure protein hydrolysate is scheduled for commercial production by the end of 2019.
