NSF International (Ann Arbor, MI) announced that its standards program for organic personal care products (NSF/ANSI 305) has been expanded to include plant-based ingredients that are certified to European Union organic regulations. The NSF standard now accepts ingredients adhering to both the U.S. National Organic Program (NOP) and EU organic standards.
NSF says that the NSF/ANSI 305 standard is similar to USDA’s NOP regulations but specifically targets personal care products that contain organic ingredients. It says that NSF/ANSI 305 is the only consensus-based standards for organic personal care products.
