NOW grows ISO 17025 chemical and biological scopes accreditation

NOW recently disclosed that the company has expanded their ISO17025 chemical and biological field scopes accreditation.

Independent and family-owned manufacturer of natural products, NOW, recently announced that the organization’s in-house laboratories have expanded the scope of their American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) ISO 17025 accreditation in both the chemical and biological fields.1 To receive accreditation, NOW need to go through an assessment, as well as a review of the quality management system and competence of the lab.

According to the company’s press release, NOW maintained accreditation for eight of its 200+ analytical chemistry methods over the past four years. Among the accredited methods maintained by NOW is a method for screening 400+ pesticides in their botanical raw materials, as well as the arsenic speciation method that most contract labs do not have the capability to offer. With expanded scope, the company now has 14 accredited chemistry methods, including quantitative allergen testing methods, as well as the ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) method.1 Additionally, NOW's Microbiology Lab expanded its ISO scope from six to 12 methods this year, which includes the addition the Sparks, NV lab. The expanded biological testing scope includes PCR technologies used for pathogen detection.

“Accomplishing this was a team effort from top to bottom; the scientists developing and validating the methods, the chemists and microbiologists who run these methods 31,000 times a month, and the upper management team that provides the resources and best-in-class instrumentation we utilize to get the best results possible,” said Jonathan DeCenzi, MS, senior quality manager, NOW Health Group. “This is a tremendous accomplishment by the quality team and another benchmark NOW can use to support our claim of being one of the clear leaders in natural product quality and value.”
