FraxiPure is sourced from the Fraxinus excelsior tree, also known as European ash.
Naturex (South Hackensack, NJ) reports that it has obtained a patent for FraxiPure, a branded fraxinus extract for blood sugar regulation. FraxiPure is sourced from the Fraxinus excelsior tree, otherwise known as European ash or common ash. The ingredient is reportedly in use in the United States and EU.
Naturex says it has conducted several in-house studies showing FraxiPure’s ability to lower high blood glucose levels. The patent (#8,293,292) covers blood glucose regulation activity with FraxiPure, and extraction and characterization of secoiridoid compounds from fraxinus.
“Our patent describes a unique extraction and isolation process to obtain an extract mainly standardized to two novel compounds: nuzhenide and GI3,” says Naturex scientific director Marc Roller. “It also discloses the significant effect of FraxiPure to control glycemia levels in people suffering from metabolic syndrome. People with metabolic syndrome have an increased long-term risk for developing type 2 diabetes.”
