Kemin’s AssuriTEA Ingredient Now GRAS

The company says that the ingredient’s green and black tea varieties are carefully selected to provide a wide range of naturally occurring antioxidants that complement each other to enhance antioxidant protection.

Kemin Health’s (Des Moines, IA) AssuriTEA Wellbeing ingredient, a proprietary green and black tea blend, has been affirmed Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) for use in food and beverages.

The new GRAS designation will take AssureTEA Wellbeing into food and beverages such as cereal, nutrition and energy bars, soft drinks, sports and isotonic drinks, energy beverages, fruit and vegetable juices, meal replacements, and even soft candies, said Kemin in a press release.

The company says that the ingredient’s green and black tea varieties are carefully selected to provide a wide range of naturally occurring antioxidants that complement each other to enhance antioxidant protection. Moreover, the company says that it is an aqueous rather than a solvent extracted ingredient, making it World Friendly for use in global markets.
