Ingredion Promotes Cost-Saving Emulsifier for Beverages

Ingredion Inc. (Westchester, IL) has published a white paper on Purity Gum, an “ultra emulsifier” that the company says is four times as powerful as traditional beverage emulsifiers.

Purity Gum can be used for flavor (or color) and turbidity, giving beverage makers a maximized oil load with minimal water usage in emulsion concentrates. Factoring in production, warehouse, and shipping costs, Ingredion says Purity Gum can save manufacturers an estimated $500,000 per 1 billion L of finished beverage.

Ingredion’s white paper, “A Revolutionary Starch Emulsifier for Maximized Beverage Emulsion Productivity,” includes results of an independent study comparing oil load emulsions made with Purity Gum or a conventional starch with gum arabic.
