FȲTA, a sports nutrition brand founded by the former UFC fighter James Wilks, has officially launched. The brand’s first product is its Elite Plant Protein that feature EverPro, a plant-based protein derived from spent brewer’s grain, which is barley upcycled from beer brewing. EverPro is the flagship ingredient of EverGrain, a subsidiary of AB InBev based in St. Louis, MO.
“It’s amazing to think that such a high quality, highly digestible and highly versatile protein was being thrown away,” says Wilks, in a press release. “EverGrain’s efforts to upcycle a protein that would otherwise go to waste not only resulted in a truly unique product, but aligns with our mission to create a stronger, healthier population and planet.”
The Elite Plant Protein touts 30 grams of non-GMO plant protein that includes all nine essential amino acids, 3 g of fiber, and only 1 g of sugar. According to the company, the product offers great taste which was determined in a blind taste test conducted by the National Food Lab in 2022 to be preferred 3 to 1 over comparable products, as well as high solubility.
