Exclusive distribution agreement signed by ADM and Asahi Group for stress, mood, and sleep postbiotic

ADM and Asahi Group Foods Corporation recently signed an exclusive distribution agreement for the lactic acid-based postbiotic Lactobacillus gasseri CP2305.

ADM announced in a recent press release1, announced that it had signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Asahi Group Foods Corporation. This agreement will allow ADM to distribute the lactic acid-based postbiotic, Lactobacillus gasseri CP2305, from Asahi Group. The supplement is backed by eight human clinical trials2-9, and may be able to support in areas such as, sleep, stress, and mood.1 According to Euromonitor Retail Sales Data, mood and relaxation support saw a CAGR increase of 13% between 2019-2023 and had a category growth rate of 34%.10

“Stress, mood and sleep are among the fastest-growing wellness segments, and – as the cornerstone to physical and emotional health – they are also some of the most disruptive factors to everyday life and overall well-being if not properly supported,” said Mark Lotsch, ADM's President of Global Health & Wellness.1 “Our agreement with pioneering Asahi Group to bring science-backed L. gasseri CP2305 postbiotic into our robust health and wellness solutions library is a critical step in advancing new product development to support consumers’ quality of life around the world.”

The L. gasseri CP 2305 postbiotic potentially offers support in regard to stress management and sleep quality.1 Eight randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human clinical trials potentially showed that the supplement has the ability to improve sleep efficiency, emotional well-being, decreased time in falling asleep, improvement in total duration of sleep2-4 and lower stress.2-9 The supplement is able to survive less ideal conditions such as those seen in high-water-content and high-heat which are often connected with functional foods and dosage formats seen in gummies.1
