Ingredient supplier Osage Food Products (Washington, MO) has launched its SolvPro Vegan Plant Protein Blends line which includes 6 SKUs, each with a different protein digestibility corrected amino acid (PDCAAS) score. The ingredients in the line comprise optimal blends of plant proteins to “deliver targeted nutritional and functional properties for a wide range of end-use applications.”

Several of the new ingredients feature a first-of-its-kind upcycled-barley-rice protein called EverPro, which was designed to dissolve almost instantly in beverages. “Created by EverGrain by Anheuser-Busch InBev, EverPro upcycles brewers’ spent grains to spectacular effect—delivering not only solubility but better taste and texture in protein-fortified nutritional beverages,” the Osage press release states.

“The EverPro protein isolate is the key ingredient in our SolvPro 008 and 009 systems, in combination with pea protein isolate and with adding masking agents,” explained Bill Dickinson, president of Osage Food Products, in the press release. He said “this new system delivers a complete plant protein with adequate levels of all the essential amino acids to deliver a PDCAAS of 1.0, equivalent to whey protein isolates.”

“This system allows for a very high usage level and protein levels beyond anything currently on the market (>30 grams per serving) with no viscosity, chalkiness, or off-flavors,” he added.
