DolCas Biotech successfully infuses chocolate bars with fish collagen
DolCas Biotech has been able to infuse chocolate bars with Morikol fish collagen, offering beauty benefits without altering taste or texture.
DolCas Biotech, LLC, a nutraceutical innovator, announced in a recent press release1, that the company has successfully
The Morikol ingredient has the capabilities to be combined into different types of chocolate, such as white, milk, and dark chocolate. The fish collagen tripeptide does not alter texture, flavor, or aroma in the product. Morikol consists of three-amino-acid sequenced tripeptides called glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline, which are called “GPH”.1 These tripeptides may assist with the production of collagen generation and synthesis of ceramides enzymes and hyaluronic acid. These components have shown potential in sustaining cell membrane structure and the skin barrier.1
“Most collagen ingredients come in 5 g-10 g doses," explained K. G. Rao, founder and CEO of DolCas Biotech, in a press release.1 “Morikol's low concentration of the bioactive component makes it ideal for innovative delivery formats. One square of chocolate can now deliver a full clinical dose of collagen peptides, whether for beauty-from-within or joint comfort, and still satisfy the most discerning chocolate lover's palate. Our 'less is more' collagen concept is transforming how people experience wellness by bringing a touch of sensory joy to the routine of supplementing with collagen.”
“This is the only fish collagen clinically studied to deliver measurable benefits for skin health at a daily 1 g dose, or for joint mobility at a 2 g daily dose,” added Rao.1

“Morikol's piscine tripeptides are designed to reach vulnerable and damaged sites of the skin, bone, and tendons where it activates osteoblasts and fibroblasts, in turn helping promote collagen synthesis, boosting bone and connective tissue integrity as well as keeping joints lubricated,” Rao explained.1
“Morikol is non-GMO, sustainable, allergen-friendly, and is completely free of any fishy aroma or flavor, making it a perfect candidate for expansion into functional foods," adds Rao.1 "Our full spectrum, clean-label collagen offers a turn-key opportunity to elevate chocolate products into the wellness arena, without compromising on their classic treats' flavor and the enjoyment of snacking."
