The prebiotic galactooligosaccharide (GOS) ingredient is also now permitted use of the following health claims in the Philippines: “enhances gut health” and “helps maintain regularity.”
Clasado Biosciences (Berkshire, UK) and its distribution partner CTC Group Philippines report that Clasado’s Bimuno galactooligosaccharide (GOS) prebiotic ingredient has been approved for use in foods, beverages, and supplements in the Philippines by the country’s Food and Drug Administration.
The approval also grants the ingredient two health claims: 1) “Bimuno GOS enhances gut health,” and 2) “Bimuno GOS helps maintain regularity.”
In a press release, Per Rehné, CEO, Clasado Biosciences, said, “The global market for prebiotics is set to skyrocket, and the Asia-Pacific region is no exception. Across the board we are seeing consumers get proactive with gut health and the benefits of a well-supported gut microbiome. Naturally as one of the most stable and versatile approaches to gut health formulations, prebiotics are at the top of the agenda for formulators.”
