Balchem (Montvale, NJ) has announced that it will be debuting its “Premier Ingredients for Premier Athletes” platform for the U.S. market. An exhibit sponsor for “Active Nutrition,” Balchem will highlight how its minerals, nutrients, and other functional ingredients can support health and performance in athletes. Ingrediets that will be showcased as part of its “Premier Ingredients for Premier Athletes” include K2Vital, VitaCholine, OptiMSM, and Albion Minerals chelates. Visitors can also learn more about Balchem’s partnership with the New York Jets and FC Bayern Women soccer team.

“When we initiated the partnership with FC Bayern Women, our goal was to educate consumers about vitamin K2 and reinforce the high-quality standards embodied in our K2Vital. The team proved to be the perfect partner – acting as outstanding ambassadors of health with over a billion fans worldwide,” comments Dominik Mattern, vice president, science, business development and marketing for Balchem Human Nutrition and Health, in a press release.

Balchem will also be spotlighting ingredients in its portfolio that relate to fast-growing industry trends around healthy aging and GLP-1. For example, a recent study found that there was a connection between folate status and epigenetic aging. “In a nationally representative sample of United States adults, higher concentration of folate, a carbon donor, was associated with lower EAD, and higher concentration of Hcys, an indicator of OCM deficiencies, was associated with greater EAD,” the researchers concluded.

“Epigenetic clocks examine the levels of DNA methylation at specific points on the genome that change with age to help quantify variations in biological versus chronological aging,” explained Eric Ciappio, PhD, RD, senior manager, nutrition science, Balchem HNH, in a statement. “This difference is known as epigenetic age deviation (EAD). This recent study was particularly interesting as it tested for associations between EAD and nutritional biomarkers associated with one-carbon metabolism. This essential biochemical pathway supports many physiological processes, including balanced methylation.”

Balchem’s choline-enriched folate, called Optifolin+, is therefore a good fit for healthy aging formulations. Additionally, when it comes to GLP-1, attendees can learn about how the company’s broad portfolio can be used to develop companion products to GLP-1 agonist drug protocols.

“We’re looking forward to showcasing how we can help our partners in the U.S. develop performance-driven health solutions that meet consumers’ evolving needs - from strength and endurance to epigenetic health and everything in between,” said Mattern in a recent press release. “What’s more, as the active nutrition market continues to expand, we’re proud to introduce our ‘Premier Ingredients for Premier Athletes’ offering and to spotlight how our branded ingredients can help cut through the noise. And with 46% consumers seeing branded ingredients as a mark of quality and science-backed benefits -the opportunity has never been greater.”
