In a recent press release, Amano Enzyme USA announced that the company would be highlighting their selection of specialty microbial enzymes at this years’ SupplySide Global 2025 conference, which is taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, between October 29 to October 30, 2025.

“As plant-based foods and beverages continue to gain popularity among health-conscious consumers, we are excited to emphasize the critical role enzymes play in advancing product innovation in this rapidly expanding market,” said Atsuya Hirano, Vice President, Amano Enzyme USA, in the company’s press release. “Our enzymes help manufacturers precisely control key formulation properties such as sweetness, texture and functionality to meet the high standards expected of today’s plant-based and dairy alternative products. For example, our Protein Glutaminase “Amano” 500 (PG500) helps prevent curdling of plant milks in drinks like coffee by stabilizing the proteins without added ingredients. Our CheeseMax PB helps manufacturers enhance protein-stabilizer interactions and reduces reliance on stabilizers, allowing manufacturers to create high-protein, dairy-free formulations that closely mimic traditional cheese characteristics. Our diverse portfolio of specialized enzymes combined with our vast technical expertise allows us to assist manufacturers in creating the next generation of plant-based products and meeting evolving consumer expectations.”

“As a Japanese enzyme manufacturer, we draw on a rich heritage of fermentation science while continuing to push the boundaries of modern biotechnology,” added Hirano. “By combining state-of-the-art enzyme innovation with traditional methods, Amano Enzyme delivers unique value to customers worldwide. Our relentless pursuit of enzyme excellence ensures we continue to advance food innovation in the future.”

Amano Enzyme USA (Elgin, IL) introduced a line of non-GMO food enzymes at the Institute of Food Technologists Annual Meeting and Food Expo 2018 in Chicago, Illinois.

To be classified as non-GMO, the enzymes must meet three criteria, the company says: 1) the organisms used to produce the enzymes must be non-genetically engineered, 2) the fermentation media used must be Identity Protected (IP) as non-GMO, and 3) the carriers used also must be Identity Protected (IP) as non-GMO.

“A majority of the respondents to our recent market survey indicated that the availability of non-GMO food enzymes is important, and many feel it will drive innovation in the marketplace,” said Ken Iritani, vice president, technical services, in a press release.2 “We already produced a number of non-GMO enzymes, but as a quality producer of food enzymes, sensitive to our customers’ needs, we wanted to be responsive to this growing trend.”
