On September 10, 2025, Nutritional Outlook hosted the Outlook on Active Nutrition, a one-day conference featuring leading experts, informative presentations, and engaging panel discussions exploring the key trends and developments in active nutrition.
Live from the Outlook on Active Nutrition, we asked Lorenzo Ramirez, head of R&D at GMP Nutraceuticals, what advice he would give to brands trying to break into the active nutrition market.
Lorenzo Ramirez: I'm Lorenzo Ramirez. I am the head of R&D over at GMP Nutraceuticals here in Pennsylvania, and I also have a small supplement brand that I work with couple of my partners called Wolf Pack Supplements.
Three of the biggest things that I would recommend: first, have partners that you trust you can genuinely work with and divide the labor, because doing it all by yourself can be far too much.
Next, on that topic of trust is you really need to have a contract manufacturer that you can trust to work with on timelines that have open communication with. I know, at least for us, we probably went through three or four before we finally got to the one we did. So do your research. Measure twice, cut once, especially for those kind of things.
And another really big one, I would say, is really have down the voice that you want to project as a brand, as a company, try to make it as just simple, straightforward and science-backed as possible, makes label claims easier, and really get into social media marketing. It is really the only way to progress, because we're seeing so many people of Gen Z, Millennials, Gen Alpha, that are actually picking up the labels and reading them these days. So sometimes it's just nice to have that authentic voice where no AI is really going to be able to replicate that.
