Editorial Submission

We love it when industry members express interest in contributing articles to Nutritional Outlook. We believe that, when written well, an article authored by an industry member can provide an intimate view of the issues most important to his or her peers.

Below are a few helpful tips for those interested in submitting an article for consideration.

Process for Submitting an Article:

E-mail the article in a Word document, as well as any high-res images, to editor-in-chief Jennifer Grebow, jgrebow@mjhlifesciences.com

Publication is not guaranteed unless so stated by the editors. The editors will decide whether an article publishes online, in print, or both.

All material is subject to editing by Nutritional Outlook staff.

Nutritional Outlook does not pay for contributed articles unless an author is hired beforehand on a freelance basis.

Articles may not have been published—or under consideration for publication—anywhere else, including by other publications, journals, websites, digital newsletters, blogs, and social media. Once published in Nutritional Outlook, the article may not be published or reproduced anywhere else unless authorized by Nutritional Outlook staff.

Once accepted for publication by Nutritional Outlook, an article’s content must remain confidential until the article is published in Nutritional Outlook.

Before you begin writing, it is always best to discuss a story's topic and content with editor-in-chief Jennifer Grebow to ensure they meet Nutritional Outlook's needs. Let us help ensure your article is on the right track for our readership. If your article is still in the preliminary stage and you would like some feedback prior to writing, contact editor-in-chief Jennifer Grebow at jgrebow@mjhlifesciences.com.

Articles should be specific to the dietary supplements and healthy food/beverages industries. The more specific and applicable an article is to industry, the better its chance of being selected for publication. (E.g., if an article focuses on a health condition, we don’t want a general summary of that health condition; rather, we prefer articles that discuss the specific nutritional ingredients that can benefit that health condition and the science/studies—preferably human clinical trials—behind those ingredients.) Some of our favorite topics include: ingredients, ingredient science, ingredient/health condition relationships, product development, marketing/ingredient trends, manufacturing/processing/extraction, regulatory/legislative issues, and quality/testing issues.

Articles should be purely educational and not promote an author or his or her company. Any articles mentioning an author’s services/products or the services/products of his or her company will not be considered. This ensures that articles written by industry members remain within the editorial and not the “advertorial” scope.

Articles should be bylined and include the author’s name, professional title, company name, full contact information, a short author/company bio (25 words maximum), and an author headshot (optional, unless requested by the editors).

If you choose to submit photos/diagrams/tables/graphs with your article, please ensure that items are high-resolution jpeg images (300 dpi, minimum, at 4-inches wide, minimum).

Authors are responsible for the content of their article, including accuracy and ensuring the article is authorized by any third-party sources/interviewees for possible use in Nutritional Outlook.

Please provide appropriate references for any clinical studies mentioned. Please disclose if you or your company sponsored a study.
