Stevia and Sugar Producers Introduce Steviasucrose

Nordzucker AG (Braunschweig, Germany), Europe’s second largest sugar producer, has teamed up with Pure Circle Limited (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), a global leader in the development of stevia (Stevia rebaudiana). The joint venture has yielded NP Sweet A/S (Copenhagen), a company devoted to the sale and marketing of “steviasucrose” stevia and sugar blends.

NP Sweet will deliver stevia and steviasucrose to the Northern and Eastern Europe markets; this is a pre-emptive venture that awaits the EU approval of stevia use in foods and beverages. An EU decision is expected later this year.
