RFI Ingredients Takes on High-Absorption Ginseng

RFI Ingredients (Blauvelt, NY) has forged a manufacturing, formulation, and sales partnership with the South Korean supplier of GS15-4, a high-absorption ginseng extract. As RFI describes, GS15-4 is processed using a patented-pending, high-yield, enzyme-fermented process to boost absorption.

GS15-4 was the winner of the Best Botanical 2012 award at the Natural Products Expo West/Engredea trade show last year. “This unique ginseng extract delivers ginseng with higher efficacy, more consistent absorption, and an improved taste profile compared to conventional ginseng extracts,” RFI says. It says human clinical studies show that GS15-4 enables absorption that is 15 times higher, 4 times faster, and 4 times more consistent thanks to the enzyme fermentation that produces a “completely balanced ginseng extract in its end-stage metabolite form.”

“GS15-4 will transform how ginseng can be used in the natural ingredient market,” RFI says.

The South Korean company is Ilhwa Company, Ltd. RFI will partner with the firm’s wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, Ilhwa NA Inc. (Pearl River, NY).
