Piveg’s New Astaxanthin Meets FCC, USP Standards

The new USP/FCC-standard astaxanthin ingredients are available in a 5% and 10% oil, 2.5% beadlets, and a 1% cold-water-dispersible form.

Piveg (San Diego) announced new astaxanthin offerings: ingredients that now meet U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) and Food Chemical Codex (FCC) monograph standards. The ingredients are part of the company’s AstaMarine astaxanthin line.

Gen Lipkovicius, Piveg’s international marketing manager, tells Nutritional Outlook that because the new USP/FCC-standard AstaMarine ingredients adhere to different testing standards than the company’s other AstaMarine astaxanthin ingredients, they “are essential different products.”

The new USP/FCC-standard astaxanthin ingredients are available in a range of formats: 5% and 10% oil, 2.5% beadlets, and a 1% cold-water-dispersible form.
