Vitamin Angels...s mission is to connect children under five years old with essential nutrients through two main programs. Reaching across 20 countries, 'Operation 20/20'ÃÂ provides children with vitamin A capsules to prevent childhood mortality and blindness. The organization...s other program, 'Thrive to Five,'ÃÂ provides multivitamins to children and pregnant and lactating women in 20 countries. The organization reports that it supplies children and women at need with about 100 million doses of micronutrients each year.
'Through long-term commitments like Pharmachem...s, we...ll be able to double the number of children reached this year to 20 million,'ÃÂ says Howard Schiffer, founder and president of Vitamin Angels. 'Vitamin Angels has been around for 16 years, and last year was the first time we were able to reach over 10 million malnourished children worldwide in one year.'ÃÂ
