NPA Award Winners Announced

The ceremony will be held during the Natural Products Association MarketPlace, NPA’s annual trade show and convention, to be held June 23-25 in Las Vegas.

The Natural Products Association (NPA; Washington, DC) has announced the winners of its 18th annual NPA Awards. The ceremony will be held during the Natural Products Association MarketPlace, NPA’s annual trade show and convention, to be held June 23-25 in Las Vegas.

The President’s Award will go to David Seckman, who previously served as NPA’s executive director and CEO.

The Burton Kallman Scientific Award will go to Anthony L. Almada, MSc, cofounder and past president of Experimental and Applied Sciences and founder and chief science officer for IMAGINutrition Inc. Almada is also cofounder and CEO of GENr8 Inc. as well as of Fein Innovations LLC.

The Rachel Carson Environmental Award will be presented to Paul T. Anastas, PhD, assistant administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Research and Development and the agency’s science advisor. He has performed groundbreaking research on the design, manufacture, and use of minimally toxic, environmentally friendly chemicals.

Industry Champion Awards will go to several individuals: Frank J. Lampe, director of communications for the American Herbal Products Association; Howard B. Schiffer, founder of philanthropic organization Vitamin Angels; Debra Short, co-owner of small natural products retail chain House of Health; and Marc S. Ullman, one of the natural product industry’s premier legal authorities.

Clinician Awards will be presented to holistic healthcare practitioners James B. LaValle, RPh, CCN, MS; and Michael R. Lyon, MD.

Finally, the Socially Responsible Retailer Award will go to Community Foods Co-Op in Bellingham, WA.
